*DIRECTOR, DONNIE SORAH*

Mr. Sorah is currently in his third year as band director at J.J. Kelly High School. Mr. Sorah has a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and a Masters Degree in Performance from Morehead State University in Kentucky. He has worked extensively as a brass instructor for many high schools in Kentucky and Virginia. Mr. Sorah performs solos and in groups in many venues in our region and nationally. He is widely respected for his outstanding abilities as a trumpet performer. Mr. Sorah continues to lead the Kelly Band to new levels of excellence. He is constantly striving to raise the level of excellence in each individual. Under his direction, the Kelly Band has had many tremendously successful experiences and continues to grow in number and musicianship.


*VISUAL DESIGNER, MICHAEL COX*

Michael is a 1994 graduate of Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky, holding a Bachelors Degree in Music. While at Cumberland, Michael worked extensively with area high schoolbands as a woodwind, marching, and drum major instructor. He has been, and continues to be active as a judge in the Kentucky system. Michael has a Masters Degree in Music Education from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. Michael writes the drill, coordinates with the color guard instructor, teaches woodwind sectionals, works as a marching instructor, and coaches the drum major. Michael has worked with the J.J. Kelly Band since 1995. Michael is currently an Assistant Professor of Music at Clinch Valley College in Wise, Va.


*COLOR GUARD INSTRUCTOR, JENNIFER STURGILL MASSEY*

Jennifer graduated from J.J. Kelly High School in 1990 and then attended Clinch Valley College. Jennifer served as flag captain of the J.J. Kelly Color Guard for three years. She has instructed the J.J. Kelly Color Guard for two years. Jennifer is a gifted instructor, whose patience and skill are of great value. She has the ability to teach color guard technique simply and quickly. Jennifer has been the key to the great success of the Kelly Color Guard. She spends hours creating routines and teaching the guard new and innovative ideas. She also coordinates with the visual designer on flag and costume design.
